Who are we?

The Australian Ski Patrol Association is the peak body for Alpine Safety in Australia.  We train all Ski Patrollers in Australia and have NSW WorkCover certification for our courses, Commonwealth Government recognition as the peak body for Alpine Safety in Australia, and are voting members of the Australian Resuscitation Council, as well as being a voting member of the international peak alpine safety body (FIPS).

The training material on the site is for the use of Patrol Members attending our programs and the material must NOT be used without proper instruction from qualified instructors and practitioners.

 Introduction

If you require technical assistance, please call your Information Technology support provider.  Specific IT support is beyond the capabilities of  this website, as much as we might like to help.

The information here also does not provide detailed advice on the operation of the software used to display particular files accessed from this site.  For that you can refer to the user manuals provided by the manufacturer.

The videos on this site use a flash plug-in which is available for download from Macromedia.  If the video does not show, you may not have the Flash plug-in loaded for your Browser.   An automatic redirection should take you to the Macromedia site.

Apart from Browser software, two pieces of additional software are essential for the operation of the disk - Adobe Acrobat and the Macromedia Flash 7.0 or above plug-in.

Types of files

The files used on this site may be any of the following:

Loading of Software

Should you wish to use the formats that require propriety software you will need to purchase the software and have appropriate licences.  Adobe® Acrobat is the primary delivery software on the disk and is available free from Adobe.  It uses 'portable document format' and is platform independent.  The Macromedia® Flash plug-in for Microsoft® Explorer is also free.

You will need Macromedia Flash 7.0 to play the video material.  Macromedia Flash comes in several additional versions for standalone use.  These can be down loaded from http://www.macromedia.com/ site, although they are NOT required for the use of this disk.

'Tahoma' is the true-type-font used for most of the ASPA Website.  It can be downloaded by right-clicking on the two file font names and saving them to your hard drive.   The two font files (tahomabd.ttf and tahoma.ttf) can then be loaded through your Control Panel for bold, italic and normal fonts.

Structure of the ASPA Training Website

The ASPA Training Website is divided into manageable modules and can be access by clicking on the menu bar on the left hand side window.  The site map is clickable and acts as an index to the web pages.
