Results for the 2008 National On Hill Exams
The Victorian exam day on Saturday 6th September at Falls Creek was blessed with good weather although a bit chilly. The course was prepared in advance using terrain in the Bowl which provided a good level of variety and the required difficulty. This effort helped to achieve a great success rate with the results below reflecting this.
This year a committed Tassie crew came up early to prepare and had a great week of skiing and participating in training sessions provided by the Falls patrollers with all their hard work paying off with Michael and Julian getting through and achieving their full national certification. Congratulations are in order!
Glenn McIlroy, Falls Creek Patrol Director and ASPA VP Interantional Relations made this comment; "I would like to extend my gratitude to all the participants, and especially the examining group who spent a long day standing about in the cold assessing. Thanks to Davo and Gen for travelling all the way down from Thredbo and also Steve from Hotham who did some fine demo's as did Stef from Falls."
He also thanked Falls Creek patroller, Rob Decker who not only compiled the results but together with Andy Zwar managed the setting of the courses and the general running of the day.
Here is a summary of the results.
Candidates = 10
National passes = 6 with 2 distinctions being awarded
This is higher than the average of recent events so shows the time and effort put in by the candidates was every bit worth it.
The NSW exam which was planned to run on September 13th was cancelled this year due to a number of factors but will go ahead next year as usual.
